Welcome to my home page!  As your school counselor at Welch Elementary School at the Dover Air Force Base my goal is to best serve and respond to our students and their families needs. The School Counseling program is designed to meet the unique needs of the Dover Air Force Base and surrounding communities. Some of my services offered are as follows:

Temporary Deployment Support Groups  Students who have a parent or guardian who is deployed or TDY are eligible to attend.   Support groups are designed to provide an opportunity for children to meet together in a caring environment to talk about their experiences while their loved one is away.  The primary outcome is children learn how they can best cope with the status of the parent and achieve at school while their loved one is away serving our country.  Children are encouraged to practice ways they can help the parent who is still at home, while achieving at school to help make their parents/guardians proud.  New friendship connections are formed through the discussion of shared experiences!

Currently, during the school year groups are held virtually on zoom.  This is subject to change to in-person groups once we return to school dependent on CDC guidelines.  Groups typically meet for half an hour 1x per week for up to 6 to 7 weeks.  Groups are scheduled during the fall, winter and spring.

Individual School Based Counseling is provided for students for social/emotional supportive council, and crisis counseling to assist students in emotional crisis. Resource connection and referral to outside therapy is advised when situations require more intensive services.  Here is a link to my letter highlighting a local therapeutic counseling resource listing for the greater Dover area: school_counseling_resourse_letter_2020-2021.doc
